mixing it up {modern + ornate}

I continue to be amazed by the way my style has evolved over the past few years. There are design elements that I swore I would never be drawn to, that are now among my favorites. When I started delight by design I was crazy for contemporary, whimsical and colorful spaces. I still am, but have also grown to love modern interiors with restrained color palettes. At the moment, I am currently crazy about spaces that mix ornate architectural elements with mid-century sensibility...

That first photo with the fire place... what an efficient and lovely way to store firewood. We now have a working wood-burning fireplace and I was having trouble coming up with a storage solution for our firewood since it is so damp outside and we are in a small apartment. Fantastic.

I agree, the first pic is stunning, a large white, airy space lends itself so well to large ornate pieces, like that stunning mirror and mantle, which could be lost in a 'busy' room. Beautiful
