Although not having to cook for two weeks while on vacation was a treat I am quite happy to be back in the kitchen tonight--actually making tortilla soup to try and quell the sore throat I fear jet lag has brought on. However, I would love being in my kitchen even more if I had one of these lovely butcher block tables to prepare my dinner on...

I have always been attracted to wood counter tops too!! They just look so homey and inviting to me. These are lovely images, Kathysue
When I renovate my kitchen I really want an island similar to that second one!
Perfect!!

Those stone walls are so cool...
hope you feel better soon!
Those stone walls and pendant lights are very cool. I happen to adore white painted exposed brick, but this caught my eye right away.
Hope you're feeling better by morning...it's amazing what a good night sleep in your own bed can cure.
What delightful kitchens! Liiike the rustic charm of both of 'em.
Your blog is a treat to go through, love it :)

I love butcher block counter tops! I did a post today on Mary Douglas Drysdale, and she uses such beautiful wood counter tops in several kitchens... some featured in the post.
I also love cooking most after vacation!
Best,

Both are lovely- always looking for kitchen inspirations- one day my kitchen will be re-done!
Any photos of your tortilla soup? Hope it helped!
That second kitchen is amazing, i love the brick wall mixed with white, and wood always makes a room warm and inviting..
These are so gorgeous!
And I love that big tote in the second pic!

I would love to have a preparation counter like that!
Those identical lighting fixtures are really stylish but the chandelier in the kitchen would have looked better if it's not that low and big.
Would love one of these too!
Ooh wow... The wonderful table complements the room and those fixtures.
Love the butcher block counters. Please feel free to link back to us at http://houseandhome.com/.
Thanks so much!

That bottom kitchen is phenomenal!
That kitchen with the stone walls is amazing!!
The best treatments for butcher block counters are inert oils which can continually be reapplied to the surface of the wood. These oils fill in the natural pores in the wood and repel other oils, liquids and food which may contaminate the surface. Only inert oils are safe for use in treating butcher block counters. Vegetable or other cooking oils will eventually turn rancid and give your counters a spoiled food odor.
i like how it exude a modern cottage feel. nice blend of modern and natural materials..
Totally loving those stone walls......
Love these kitchens specially the one in the 2nd picture. A range hood could have added an extra touch on that kitchen though.
I enjoyed reading your articles. This is truly a great read for me. I have bookmarked it and I am looking forward to reading new articles.
