dining in the dark

Dark colors can easily make a room seem, well, dark. These dining rooms are anything but that. They perfectly blend the drama of dark slate with stark white to create rooms full of interest and contrast. And those amazing wood floors--don't even get me started, sigh.

The wood floor in the first picture is amazing, love all the details. The second photo has the most beautiful walls. I love the stark white wood and deep sultry brown walls. Amazing.

Such beautiful dark rooms. Makes me whish I hadn't painted mine plain white now. Love the wood panelling in the second image.

Great design but not my taste. Still, between the two styles, I'd pick the second one

I love high contrast spaces. I just featured some black painted walls for offices on my blog a couple of days ago.
I feel like I'm spotting some Jurgen Bey Light Shades in your first photo but I don't believe they were made as standing lamps. It doesn't matter, I love them anyways!

Both are beautiful -- particularly swooning over #1. Are there any more images of that space?

Second picture def catches my attention more than the first. I like looking at it but I dont think I could live there. To me the dark color gives a low ceiling effect next to the white, i'd be hunching my back in that room.

I always try to convince my clients to go darker then they want. When they trust me and go for it, they are always over the moon happy with the results. Thanks for the great inspiration! Chic Rooms

They really do complement. Nice work.
That second image is stunning. Really like how the dark blue contrasts with the stark white of the wood panels.

The wall in the second picture is stunning and of course, that lighting fixture is crazy beautiful.
Wow, the dining room below is gorgeous. The solid wood table matches perfectly with the chairs. I'm loving the entire room.
