rough luxe

Rough luxe is a difficult look to define, as everyone always seems to have a different take on the look. To me it is the mixture of vintage elements with sleek and luxurious ones. Michael Del Piero has been praised for achieving this look well. And I am awe of the kitchen in one of her recently completed projects.

And just a few pieces to inject a similar look in to your home...

(vintage mail bag from michael del piero, trina turk coaster, wool and silk madeline weinrib rug,
big sur lantern from Jayson Home)

I am very curious to know--how do you define rough luxe?

What a stunning kitchen. You've done a brilliant job of pulling together items to evoke the same style. (Those coasters would be perfect for my coffee table, by the way)!

To me, rough luxe is best executed through staying true to the natural features of a space (the bricks, in this example) and playing off them in a clean yet warm manner. The style itself is such a juxtaposition of warm + cool, soft + rough, country + chic and as you say difficult to master.

White and brown is a dynamic color combination in this kitchen!
I think rough luxe can be defined as warm and earthy feel with sleek undertones, giving a clean and natural look to the space without compromising on luxurious details.
