weekend project + second opinion

This weeked I decided to finally complete a project that I have had on my list for over 6 months! You see one of my biggest home decor dilemmas was not having any large pieces to hang on my walls and although it can be fun to play with proportion my walls were looking a little silly. So I decided to give facelift a mirror that I had had for while but that wasn't quite my style. And with some elbow grease, primer and three layers of metallic paint (RL Champagne Toast) I succeeded!

I am thinking about trying to paint some of the ridges with white (as it a really thick frame and a lot of gold!) and maybe try to distress it a bit. But the real question I have right now is where to hang it, which I where I need your help! I can either replace the small horse oil painting over my bookcase...

Or the tin mirror over the teak bench in my entry area.
I think I know which option I am leaning towards but cant wait to hear your thoughts!

Love the paint colour! I think I like the mirror above the bench best
it looks AMAZING. RL makes an awesome crackle paint if you were going to distress it.

I think the scale is better over the bookcase. Love the color!
Ooh, great simple project! I totally feel you on not having enough large pieces. I like it in both places; I think it depends what room both are in and where you want to see your reflection most!
P.S. Loooooove those ikat print pillows.
Love love love the colour. I liike the big frame best.

Amazing job... Well done!! I like it above the bench.. the colours just fit in perfectly!
Great job! I'm leaning toward over the bench, with maybe some large artwork for the bookcase.

definitely the bench!
It's absolutely gorgeous! Although the color works well with the bench, because of its heft, I think the scale is more appropriate for the bookcase.

Nice nice nice, I think the mirror looks welcoming over the bench, and the problem with the current picture over the bookshelf is that it is WAY too high.

I'd either bring it right down low, so that it has a visual connection to the bookshelf, you could even fill the wall or run a single horizontal line of small frames over the bookshelf if you don't have any other large pieces.

best of luck!

Alice
I prefer it over the bookshelf, but either way looks nice. I too would have put it to the blogosphere, I'm very indecisive about these things and almost couldn't even leave an opinion :)

Oh that is so hard. I think the bench is the one I would pick but both look great!
Both options look great but I love how the mirror looks over the bench.

That is so funny! I have a few little framed mirrors that I have been re-painting too. The difference? They were metallic gold and I painted them black!!! hahaha!
Beautiful! I like it over the bench. The weight of it balances the size of the bench. And I like the repetition of the rectangular shapes.

This is hard because it looks good in both places. I'm going to have to say the entryway though.
Exceptional project . Like and admire your post here . Remove White Background
