not your average LBD

I was finally wrapping up switching out my winter wardrobe with my summer one and realized that I only have wintry little black dresses. And of course I am now thinking that I need one for the summer months too! So if price was of no object I think these would be the ones I would add to my closet:

(via marni, tibi, marc jacobs,)
Love that either from embellishments, materials or textures that these dresses are anything but the typical LBD. I think when it came down to it the Marni dress would be the one coming home with me. What are your little black dress requirements?

Ah I love all three of them of course. They are each totally different and I would use them for different sorts of affairs. Just beautiful!

Just found your blog, love love love it! I am a LBD fanatic and I often curse myself for all those years I bought other dresses when really I should have just stuck to buying all sorts of different LBDs. My requirements are that it needs to hide my post-baby belly and highlight my not so bad features. It needs to work with a nice trench and some funky heels. Something I can wear in both summer and winter!

You know what's funny? I was looking at the three dresses thinking, "They're all cute, but the first one looks most like Blair." Then I read that was your first choice. :)

It's my fave too.

That Marc Jacobs Dress is adorable, and looks like it would hide any tummy flaws.

Love your picks... that Marni dress has been on my radar, but I never did splurge. Really enjoying your design posts by the way... I love the mix of fashion and interior decor you have going. Really makes me want to redecorate my entire apartment... sigh.

Is linen acceptable for a little black dress? I love how it flows!
