{color inspiration} adding a little drama

Ok, from little black dresses to black interiors. Black is one color that I have really warmed up to lately for use in interiors. I think it creates such a luxurious and moody vibe to any space it is added to. I especially love the way it looks against warm hued wood floors.

Do you have a room in your house that you would consider black for?

I love black. I think it looks so chic and dramatic. I almost painted my main bathroom black, but I chickened out and went with a dark gray. I love the gray though!

I must say: I love it, especially with a hardwood floor! I just painted my bedroom Benjamin Moore's Kensington Blue, which is a dark marine, almost navy, and I adore it! So dramatic, and makes the space seem huge!

P.S. Can't wait for your blue & white post ~ I bought those shorts!
i totally agree w/you. It adds a richness to the room as well as what is in it... I also like black, planked floors!.. put that against white walls and its awesome...
it's amazing how much you can change a room with black walls! I love that last kitchen with black walls, white chandelier and turquoise door! absolutely delightful!

Yesterday I saw an apartment on Kelly + Olive which had a black ceiling and white walls. I never would have thought to try it, but it really works for the space. Who knew?

I'll probably be leaving black for furniture or artwork myself.

I really want a black master bedroom. My husband thinks I have lost it, but just wait, it will happen!

I've never considered it for our home, as it seems a bit dressy for us. A friend of mine painted her dining room black and it looks amazing though. Her house is quite grand though. That second to last bedroom is pretty darn cool.

Interestingly enough, the black makes the house look cozy. You would think it would make it very cold and masculine looking but I am impressed.

I love any post with a bath tub! Great Job Blair!!!
Yes yes yes! I am seriously considering moody charcoal for our bedroom.

Although I worry I might never fully feel 'awake' if you know what i mean..the room doesn't get much light to begin with.

thoughts?

Wow, I've seen a lot of bold interior colors but honestly never black. I love it. It's deep, stunning, awesome.

Hello! I just came across your blog from another, and I am glad that I did! Your blog is so inspiring! Wonderful ideas! We recently finished our home office and chose white coffered ceilings and trim, BLACK walls and leopard carpet (pix on my blog). I think the BLACK creates great drama in the room! Now to accessorize! AHHH!
