interior inspiration [thoughtful bathroom]

I love when bathrooms are given the same decorating thought as one would their living room. Whether that means installing mirrored wainscoting, wallpapering the ceiling (something I am just loving lately), hanging a chandelier or just adding some comfortable seating.

It just makes taking a bath all that more luxurious.

Wow that bathroom is intense. I am not sure I could handle all of that wallpaper. I do love the chandelier though. So elegant!! And did someone leave the toilet lid up?

I love seating and furniture in a bathroom. My bathrooms are way too small to accommodate any extras (even a step stool for the little ones gets tripped over), but these that you've picked are quite nice. That last one is so beautiful with all that dark wood!

Thanks for your sweet comments today!

that first image is so over the top and I love it!!!
I wish my bathroom was large enough to place a lounge chair...
I love the oversized armchair next to the bath. How lovely.
i;d love a bathroom big enough to fit in some furniture (mainly a chair & side table), maybe do a little reading while waiting for the bath to run? sounds good to me! :)

What a fabulous idea to wallpaper the ceiling of the bathroom. When you think about it, if you are relaxing in the tub you do stare up at the ceiling... might as well have something pretty to look at while you soak.

And, I love the idea of chairs in the bathroom, just wish I had one big enough!

Not sure I'd ever chill out in the bathroom (no matter how comfy the chair) but I do love them as spaces to experiment - with wallpaper, pictures, color, etc.

I completely agree with you. I think the bathroom should be given the same love as the rest of the house. Love that tub!

Look at those! Doesn't this make bathing an event? I think it would be divine to soak in one of those!

You have started a very interesting discussion on bathroom design. I'm a cabinetmaker who really does not want to make kitchens and bathrooms for a living, because the most of what is done in the US is just boxes with a "choice of doors and drawerfronts," the most of which are made in a factory somewhere. Boring. I want to do something else if I can, but what?

Last year I started a blog site with a fellow cabinetmaker and have since been exploring this very subject. European design just absolutely blows my mind, and I find myself doing quite a bit on it, even though these are often modular kitchens and bathrooms that one would simply send away for and have installed by a local craftsman. But what fascinates me is the utter innovation of those designs, so I find myself returning to them quite a bit.

I am also looking to design two bathrooms and a kitchen for my wife in too-small spaces in a tract home, which necessarily lets out those wonderful European designs that excite me so. And whenever I find myself going out on a limb with some idea or another, my wife always grounds me by saying, "If you stick with the classics, you won't grow tired of them."

So, what do you do that is different and yet timeless and practical and stimulating to make if you're a cabinetmaker? Damned if I know, but if I ever figure it out, I mean to make it and splash those babies all over the Internet!

What you've written, though, has given me quite a bit to think about, and I thank you for sharing your concepts.
we are loving this color palette!

All of those elements do add such an interesting touch of luxury to a bathroom. I also have been loving wallpapered ceilings in recent months, which makes me laugh because when my parent's bought their current house (10 years ago,) one of the rooms had wallpaper on the ceiling, and I can distinctly remember pondering with a friend WHY anyone would ever do such a thing! Ha.

A great and inexpensive addition to any bathroom and it also makes it much easier to clean is the Hand Bathroom Bidet Sprayer from http://www.bathroomsprayers.com. You can clean yourself, the toilet, the tile, even diapers if you have any. This is a must have for the modern bathroom and it helps the environment by cutting down the use of toilet paper and saves you money.
