DIY Ribbon Message Board

Are you one of those people that save gift wrap and ribbons from presents you have received? If so, then you probably already have all the materials (ribbon, staple gun and an empty frame) needed for this beautiful DIY ribbon message board.

(via April 2009 issue of Living Etc)
I sadly do not have a drawer full of ribbons but this may be just the reason I need to start saving them. I also feel quite inclined to empty a picture frame just to have one of these in my home.

Thanks so so much for the "official" introduction. I loved reading about your job and while you say you want something more creative, I love how important your job is. You're actually doing something to "give back" and that's longer lasting than my PR days working for shoe designers. It's inspiring to read!! How cool! I an empty oval, ornate frame and was wanting to paint it and convert it intto a cork board... This looks a lot simpler, especially working with the oval. Love it! Thanks for sharing.

this board is so fresh and fun since it's not the trad gridded look of ribbon boards with the diamond shapes. I love this take on a ribbon board. great find!

i made one of these once. i could not believe how much work it was to put it together! but it was worth it. i covered the whole top half of the side of my fridge. (wow, that was a mouthful.) :)

but mine was much more tailored. even shaped squares created by ribbon all the same width and color. i like the variety of ribbons and more random placement of the ribbons on this one!

and how cute are the yellow boots in the picture?

I love this idea. I've done something like this for gifts for friends and family. It's great because it's functional yet looks like pretty artwork!

this would be a fun project to do with my mum when she comes out to visit next month to help me settle into my new home. She used to have us do "DIY" projects all the time when I was young.
