unused frames?

I am sure many of you have some very pretty or ornate picture frames from your family that either just aren't quite the right size for anything or don't mesh with the style of your home. When I saw this image it made me realize that those frames could have a beautiful second life as a tray for your vanity.

(via Marcus Hay)
Just place colored paper or fabric of your choice behind the glass to hide the backing and voila--a beautiful tray! Really any type of frame would work for this.

Awesome idea... it is something simple to look for at thrift stores and antique dealers! And oh how I would love a fresh peony or two in the house right now! Ahhhh...

Great idea. Except I keep looking for old frames at car boots sales and in junk shops - and can never find any!

Great idea and I love that they added pink paper. I also love frames with nothing in them hung. I think it can be really pretty when done right. Nice post!

That is such a great idea. I've got several frames laying around. I'll get out the spray paint and fix 'em up a bit.
