[casual] dining + a guest post

I have to say that I always preferred formal dining areas for dinner parties to casual ones but at the moment I am just craving a more casual spot to host a simple midweek dinner. I don't really have the space for one right now but these are some dining rooms that I am storing away for future inspiration...

Which do you prefer? Casual or formal?

I like a casual setting with touches of formality. The casual setting can make the guests feel at home and little extra touches makes it special... great rooms! Love those red chairs!

I adore the first image. Our home is an open layout so our dining room lends itself to be more casual. It works for us though.

that last one in particular is just divine! I just wish I had the outdoor space for it. Hope you're having a fabulous Monday, my dear :-)
I'm loving casual dining rooms lately. I'm in love with the one with pink and pastel color chairs! gorgeous!

Gah, I completely agree with you there is something that bit more appealing about setting a nice table, cooking a lovely banquet, pouring that red wine and having pleasant 'civilized' conversations! :)
Love the images. I would say that I prefer casual...

Love those red chairs in the first image, but, oh, to have a space like the 2nd one. So open to the outside.

I'm definitely all for casual... but that's probably because most of my dinner parties include children!
