i suppose i prefer casual (when things get too fancy i get nervous and can't enjoy myself). these examples are exactly what i want! saw your post at dwellings and decor...it's great!

I like a casual setting with touches of formality. The casual setting can make the guests feel at home and little extra touches makes it special... great rooms! Love those red chairs!
I adore the first image. Our home is an open layout so our dining room lends itself to be more casual. It works for us though.
that last one in particular is just divine! I just wish I had the outdoor space for it. Hope you're having a fabulous Monday, my dear :-)
I'm loving casual dining rooms lately. I'm in love with the one with pink and pastel color chairs! gorgeous!

Gah, I completely agree with you there is something that bit more appealing about setting a nice table, cooking a lovely banquet, pouring that red wine and having pleasant 'civilized' conversations! :)

casual, most definitely. i love the idea in 4 & 5. we're remodeling right now and those inspire me.
