for the love of peonies


Waking up to -3 degree temperatures leaves me craving fresh cut aromatic summer flowers and there are none I love more than peonies. So when I was looking through the portfolio of Mark Lund I was delighted to find this lovely flower making appearances in the spaces he photographed.





Oh, I can almost ALMOST smell then now.

I just adore peonies... especially the frilly pink ones. Just so classic. I was actually just thinking yesterday of a spot in my garden that I will be adding peonies to this spring! Spring dreaming...

oh, and the lilacs... ahhh. I can smell them all now!

yummmm. love that last shot. we have wisteria out on the back deck and that's the scent i crave the most! it means spring is here! :)

Ah, this post takes me back to a time when life was easier and less complicated. My grandma had peony bushes all over her yard, and I can remember sitting on the ground sniffing and smelling these delicious blooms (however, had to watch out for the ants). Your posting is beautiful... and brings back many wonderful memories.

Your blog is delightful...amd easu on the eyes.

Oh how I do love peonies! And you're right about the smell---it's one of my fave scents in the world! My husband's birthday is in June right when peonies are at their best, and I always have them on the table when he wakes up and eats his birthday breakfast---so they have extra special memories for me!

if you're into perfume, check out stella mccartney's scent---it has peony and rose with base notes of amber to tone down the sweetness...heavenly!
