the perfect little {black dress} accessories

As all us girls know that there is something about a little black dress--a magical piece in a closet of chaos that is perfect for any occasion. It is so versatile as even the simplest cut black dress can be worn for any event or at any time of day, that is with the right accessories. These are just some of my favorite additions to the little black dress. For a dinner out with clients...

(marni purse and banana republic necklace)
A night on the town...

(lanvin purse and pierre hardy t-strap sandals)
Or a day at the office...

(kate spade bangle, banana republic flats and marni bag)
When and where you do wear your little black dress?

hot + cold

When it comes to colors I love opposites--and in this case it is warm and cool tones. There is something so refreshing about a beautiful warm red with a cool teal blue.

library ladder love

One of the features that I long for most in a home is high ceilings. Which leads me to think that my dream high ceilings must come with a library ladder to utilize the additional vertical space. And they can truly be used beautifully in any room!

Oh, it is so fun to dream!

m.i.a

Sorry to have been so absent from blog land the past few days but I have been spending every minute preparing for a large event that took place last night. The event went wonderfully but I am now completely drained. I promise to be back to normal posting tomorrow.

In the meantime, I hope you all had a great weekend!

fashioning interiors {elie tahari resort 2010}

Since I am having such a hard time mentally preparing myself for the fall fashions I thought I would fast forward to the 2010 resort lines. I think my favorite collection is that from Elie Tahari. So I thought that I would make the line the fashion side of this weeks fashioning interiors.

indigo+taupe

So I have another color to add to list of ones I look forward to sporting this fall--indigo. Especially after seeing the beautiful and moody vibe it added to this room and how lovely it pairs with taupe.

So that leaves me lusting to add one, two or actually all(!) of these pieces to my wardrobe.

event inspiration {tangerine+bubblegum}

After so many neutral posts this week I was beginning to crave a jolt of bold and vibrant color. I thought I would remedy that with this very colorful styled event board.

Also, the lovely delight by design sponsor, Lara Harris, just did the cutest painting of Matthew Mead's pup. Her work constantly makes me smile, especially her pet portraits!

cheap(er) chic {golden neutrals}

All the ranchers here in Jackson have been haying their fields and I just love the color of the hay when it is all bailed up. Which got me thinking that the golden hue of the hay is the perfect color to wear for the hot nights of August.

(calypso dress, marc jacobs flats, bottega veneta dress, Rhianna lingham necklace, flats from anthropologie flats, clutch from kate spade)
It can add a softness and sophistication to almost any look!

serene palette {soft gray + taupe}

The soft gray and taupe palettes of these rooms are definitley soothing to my eyes after a hectic day of work. The perfect transition to a quiet and relaxing evening...

Oh, and a bath in that lovely claw footed tub would be quite lovely too! Hope you all have a lovely evening.

whimsical lighting {paper lanterns}

In general I am confident about which trends I like and don't like quite quickly. However, paper lanterns used indoors was one that took a while to warm up too. I have seen them used for a while now and I had loved them for events and on the patio but in your bedroom or kitchen!? Well, I am a convert. Lately I find every room featuring them both lovely and whimsical.

Do you think that paper lanterns should be brought inside?
