wrapped in rope

I really love how rope inspired details can create both Grecian and nautical looks, both of which are perfect for the summer months.

(chloe ballet flats, mesh bracelet from CC Skye, maxi halter dress from t-bags, love ring from zoe&morgan, braided belt by APC, metallic sandals by seychelles, challah cardigan from anthropologie)
I didn't quite have time to get in a cheap(er) chic post in this week but I did try to include some affordable options in this round-up (only two items are over $200!)

[red] overwhelming or inviting?

It is no secret that I adore colorful accents in interiors. However, there is one color that I have really never totally embraced and that is red. I always just thought it was a little too bold but lately I have seen it used in some ways that are more warm than overwhelming.

What are your thoughts on this bold color?

What is on your coffee table?

I get quite irked when something is out of place on my coffee table (such as a magazine that isn't at the right angle with the others) and it is the place I play stylist the most. Currently atop my table are tulips in crystal cut vase, two books stacked on top of each other (the New Traditional from Darryl Carter and the Domino book), a sleek matchbook and a Christiane Celle Calypso Candle in Gardenia. However, I think I am in need of a new coffee table look--some of my current favorites:

I just love the trio of varying size dishes filled with small knick knacks, the colors of the books and the matchstick container.

And think adding some letterpress blocks, pillar candles and an oversize balloon vase full of branches definitley would create a very fun look and give my coffee table some height.

And I do have a tufted leather ottoman in storage that would look quite cool with some vintage bit and bobs on it.

Or I could try to embrace a little bit more of the rustic style of the West.

Or go the totally other direction with a more refined glamorous look.

Then again I do love the idea of bringing the outdoors in and just having a long container of succulents on a glass topped table. Oh so many options! So, what is currently on your coffee table?

hippie style, well {haute} hippie

I would not consider my style to be anything remotely hippie-but haute hippie style, that is something I can definitely get behind! I am just absolutely crazy about the spring and summer 2009 lines Haute Hippie, self described as being a line from "five people, one seven-year-old girl and her small dog - designing, creating and working out of an apartment in New York."

I am such a sucker for embellishments and wow do their clothes have amazingly intricate ones.

And I love the bohemian glamour their dresses exude--perfect for a summer evening on the town.

felling girly {zig zag love}

I think it is because they appeal to my girly side but I am really loving chevron patterns lately, it started with a love for just pink ones...

And then grew to include blue ones

and even black.

GET THE LOOK: If you are looking to add zig zags to your home I recommend you check out the rugs of Madeline Weinrib Atelier and those from West Elm, the adorable throw pillows from twinkle living or this fantastic mirror from Pottery Barn. And if you are looking to add some to your wardrobe I would take a peak at both Milly's and DVF's offerings or this pink zig scarf.

a colorful affair

My sunburn and all the warm weather we are currently experiencing leaves me craving a margarita which leaves me craving fun, casual and colorful summer parties! Plus I am very much loving fuchsia and aquamarine color combination lately--add a few more bold colors and you have the makings of a color palette for a bold summer soiree and the perfect setting for a margarita!

(envelope with whimsical calligraphy from love, jenna via you can call me chris, petal sleeved dress from lara miller, cocktails via martha stewart weddings, sweet pea arrangement by miranda jones designs, coaster save the date via linda and harriet, rock candy via amy atlas events, place setting with sweet pea via unknown, broken sea glass table card display via michelle rago, colorful bouquet from ink+peat via snippet and ink and bright fuchsia shoe photo via amorology)
I really think that many of these ideas and the colors would work for really any summer part. I am especially in love with the idea of the sea glass to hold table cards and nostalgic rock candy for favors or just decor! And adding some ribbon to a simple drink stirrer would add such a fun touch to any cocktail. Do you have any fun summer affairs planned?

quandary {dress form decor}

I am usually pretty black and white when in comes to my taste in home accessories but dress forms are just one of those things I just can't quite decide on. I think they add such personality and function when used in a certain way but worry that the shadow they cast in the middle of the night may give goosebumps.

So, I am curious--what do you think?

natural imperfection [wedding details]

New York interior decorator and stylist Kelly d'Halluin described her wedding concept as "arty, decadant, a bit Oscar Wilde and Cecil Beaton with room for natural imperfection." And the wedding details, as seen in the May/June Veranda, definitely are a spectacular interpretation of her idea.

It is the perfect blend of elegant and rustic. The tables and the arrangements feature many unique natural materials...

..from lambs ear, baby almonds, pepper berries and even mushrooms.

All set in the beautiful countryside just outside of Paris. Ok, off to enjoy another beautiful day!

sustainable saturday [rubie green]

Did you know that all of Rubie Green's lovely and much blogged about new bedding is made from organic cotton? Yet another reason to add it to my wish list!

Don't these images just make you want to crawl back into bed? Ok, off to enjoy the day. Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!

a little friday fringe

Fringe detailing seems to be everywhere from the ankle straps of sandals, the final detail on a handbag, the hem of a tunic to the style of the most elegant earrings. A truly flirty way to liven up your wardrobe, especially when in these more subdued hues:

(alice temperly dress, 3.1. phillip lim clutch, alberta ferretti pencil skirt, kate spade purse, tiffany&co earrings, dulce sandals, madame de paris tunic, manolo blahnik sandals)
Hope you all have a fabulous weekend! Looks like it is going to be a lovely one here in Wyoming.
