rosy outlook

In an effort to savor the last days of summer I am trying to embrace the colors of summer, most notably the warm shade of rose. Just so lovely, feminine and instantly inviting.

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend--I know I did, I even got to start a new book and finally read the September Vogue! Just a few of my current favorite color palettes to start the week off. From rust and gray...

a serene soak

The past few weeks feel like they have been a constant whirlwind and I could not be more pleased that the weekend has arrived and that work is starting to slow down. This lovely bathroom looks like the perfect place to take a long bath and unwind..

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

what more could you ask for?

What if I told you that there was a fall line that contained the perfect colors, patterns, formal wear, basics, the perfect date ensemble and one for the farmers market. Sounds pretty unrealistic, right? Well that is if you haven't seen the fabulous fall collection from Lauren Moffatt.

Do you have a line that you rely on season after season for every occasion on your dance card?

office space envy {jay jeffers design group}

My office has great natural light and an amazing view of the mountains but it is nowhere near as inspiring as the workplace of Jeffers Design Group. Their office is housed in a 3,800 sq. ft. industrial space and as you would imagine is beautifully decorated. I would definitely be anxious to get the office every morning is this is what awaited me...

And would gladly carry on long meeting with co-workers for hours in this lovely nook...

And I don't think I would count down the minutes 'til five if this was my desk...

And I would even be late for meetings just so clients could spend a little extra time enjoying the lovely reception area.

There is something just so stunning about the warm colors and the luxuriously draped fabrics against the concrete. Oh well, back to reality.

modern glamour

Every girl needs a little glamour in their life, even those living a less than metropolitan lifestyle in Jackson Hole. My dream house would have at least one room that exudes modern glamour or at least a touch in the closet. I especially love sophisticated modern glamour that I believe can be perfectly achieved by pairing moody hues, luxurious creams and a jolt of shimmer.

etsy crush {padgett hoke}

I am excited to add another local delight by design sponsor, padgett hoke's etsy shop. She not only has an adorable blog (check out her DIY ruffle neck t-shirt) but she makes beautiful jewelry and stunning rosette brooches.

She is also constantly adding more lovely items to her shop so I recommend checking back often!

event inspiration {sky+mandarin}

I was working on an event inspiration board with a silver and blue palette for for a fellow blogger and I just kept being drawn to sky blue accents when paired with mandarin orange. Such a fresh color combination and a perfect one for late summer events.

craving {gilt+marble console}

Although I need a proper formal entry first, I am currently craving a gilt console table-especially one with a lovely white marble top! I love the way that they look fantastic when styled with modern and clean lined accessories...

And not the least bit stuffy when adorned with more traditional items.

And while I am dreaming, I will take the riding boots, gucci bag, and contents of the hermes boxes too! What are you craving?

fashioning interiors {heidi merrick}

Heidi Merrick is spot on with her fall 2009 collection--the perfect dose of color, elegance and whimsy. I am especially crazy about the vibrant orange dress featured in the collection..

clean design {white+wood}

Sorry for the late post today but this week has been much more hectic than I expected--I had events the past two nights and absolutely wiped. So, I am very much looking forward to a simple and rejuvenating weekend. The simple design, white backdrop and splash of wood in these two spaces seemed like the perfect start to mentally unwinding...

cheap(er) chic: basic black + white

For the transitional period between summer and Fall when it is not quite time to pull out the corduroy whale skirt but the searsucker pants no longer seem appropriate, I recommend black and white pieces to get you through. Some of my favorite options that are all under $225...

(alice+ olivia shirt, 3.1. phillip lim accordion necklace, headband from anthropologie, pucci wallet, kate spade flats, maje striped cotton dress)
And it seems that I am partial to black and white pieces that also feature bows!

loving {floral upholstery}

I just got home from an event and am ready to unwind with season 2 of Mad Men but before I do I cannot resist sharing my recent infatuation with retro style floral upholstered chairs for casual dining..

new sponsor: lily & co

I am beyond thrilled to add lily & co to the list of delight by design sponsors. Lily & co is a local shop that carries not only the most adorable home accessories and gifts but they are amazing when it come to flowers!

The above bouquet they designed is one of my all time favorites for its loose, textured and whimsical look. I highly recommend stopping in one of their two locations in Jackson or stopping by their lovely blog.

cheap(er) chic home solution: curtain call

Do you have a rental that you aren't allowed to paint, trying to compartmentalize the spaces in a loft or just looking for a fun and cheap way to brighten up your room but not ready to commit to that pomegranate red just yet? Curtains used in an unconventional are a great way to achieve all these goals. They can separate rooms effortlessly and are such a fun and whimsical wall treatment!

Would you consider or have you used curtains in your home for purposes other than window dressing?

autumn neutral {amber}

Although it may feel like fall here in Jackson Hole I am definitely not ready for the leaves to change. However, in preparation I thought I would add one one more color (yes, another jewel tone) to my list of favorite fall colors--this week it is luxurious, sophisticated and elegant amber.

(via kate spade, tory burch, missoni, gerard yosca necklace, banana republic bracelet)
It is definitely my new favorite neutral. What color are you most look forward to this fall?

color inspiration {aqua}

Happy Monday. Just some summery and fresh aqua bursts of color to start the week off!

perfect blend

Every once and while there are those homes and rooms that are the perfect balance--of light and dark; modern and traditional; casual and glamorous-all topped off with the perfect dash of color. This home, especially the stunning living room, is just that...

(via australian house and garden)
And why have just one chandelier in your bathroom when you could have three!? Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday!

8.14.2009

event inspiration {seaside serenity}

I have said it before, but there is really something so romantic and relaxing about ocean side events--the lapping of the waves on the shore to the sun beautifully sinking into the horizon. I love when events in this setting are casual and feature subdued shades of the surroundings--pale ocean blue, sandy browns and soft sunset inspired peaches.
