one more!

When I was working on my next post I came across this lovely calypso ensemble and this brightly hued interior and knew they were a match made in heaven. So I just had to add it as as p.s. to my post from earlier today!

Hope you don't mind!

fashioning interiors

I am always amazed by the influence that fashion has on interior design and vis versa. And it just happens that many of the clothes and rooms I have stored away lately show my taste on the runway and in the home are quite similar at the moment!

Hope you all have a lovely day! On a sidenote, what do you think about the giant bow adornment at the dvf show?

a little bit country

There is something so romantic about an event in an old barn that smells of hay or in a wide open field. Sepia and cream create lovely backdrop for an event in such a setting.

Do you think this look is overdone or do you still think it is an ideal event setting? Be back in bit!

simple is best {for today}

Work is still insanely busy and my to do list seems to be growing and growing (much faster than I can check items off.) So, I am very much looking forward to a quiet evening of relaxation and some time away from my dreaded list. I think that coming home to this clean and simple kitchen would definitely be the perfect start to such an evening.

I just love the whitewashed floors, simple open shelving and the farmhouse sink!

Not to mention the overwhelming charm and delightful lack of clutter.

Ahh, I feel better already! What helps you transition from work to relax mode at the end of the day? Hope that you have a wonderful evening.

fall forecast {aubergine}

Ok, so if you follow me on twitter you may know that I am not ready to see all the fall clothes in the stores and online boutiques. However, it was quite chilly last night and it allowed me to give in to the allure of all the velvet and suede. So, I decided to at least look and immediately noticed that one color seemed to be all over---deep aubergine.

Such a moody and dramatic color is perfect for chilly fall evenings.

Are you ready for the fall season and the styles it brings? I am definitely not ready but these lovely purple pieces gave me hope that I will be ready when fall does come.

just a touch of raspberry

There are some colors that only need to be used in the smallest amounts to make a statement and raspberry is definitely one of them. It is such a glamorous, bold and energizing color. Perhaps that is why lipsticks in this color are so popular!

Hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing weekend!

shimmery, subdued and playful

Yes, all of these adjectives describe the versatile feeling that can be added to a space with stripes. They can create a casual and playful look when in all the colors of the rainbow...

As subdued and sophisticated look when a mix of cool grays and white.

(via decor pad, blueprint bliss, nicolas matheus)
And they can even add glamour when they are in the form of the shimmery stripes of a moroccan wedding blanket--whether on the wall, tossed on a chair or as a floor covering of a luxurious bathroom.

What is your favorite style of stripe? Hope you all have a fantastic weekend. The county fair is the weekend so I think I will be embracing my inner cowgirl!

romance in peach

There was the most beautiful peach sunset last night (as there so often is here!) and it made me think of how it was such a natural color to symbolize romance. I definitely imagine an event based around this hue being full of frivolity and friends and perfect for one of my favorite Heidi Merrick dresses!

What color reminds you of romance?

cheap(er) chic : powder blue + almond

There is something so refreshing, natural and lovely about the color combination of powder blue and almond--especially when touches of gold are added. Which is why it is the combination of colors in this week's cheaper(er) chic. It just makes me want to go sit on my deck, drink wine and relax!

{triple threat} black+white+barn door

I love when my favorite design elements can all be found seamlessly working together in one space. And in these rooms that is just the case--they combine my love for a black and white palette, barn doors (sliding in one and art in the other), unpretentious design and all while exuding casual elegance.

(via darryl carter and unknown)
What would your triple threat in a room be? OK my oven timer is telling me it is time to make dinner. Hope you all have a great night. Sorry posting has been on the lighter side lately--work is just insanely busy!

Dear Woodford & Co...

..please oh please tell me that as an Australian clothing line that you ship to the US! Because if you did your entire collection would be all I need to get my through until the snow flies. Your pieces are the perfect balance of saucy, sexy and sophisticated.

To pieces that are classic, refined and unexpected blend of country contemporary...

Do you agree that these pieces could get you through all the occasions the summer throws at you?

divine combination {burnt sienna and navy}

Every single time that I think I have nailed down my favorite color combination another lovely one catches my eye and today it is warm sienna paired with rich navy blue.

afternoon project {calling card pin board}

I have very awkward shelves (skinny and shallow) just to the left of my refrigerator that don't fit anything other than perhaps a random candle or two. It has bothered me for quite some time now that I can't store or display anything useful in them and today decided to take action! As luck would have it I then I realized that my vase full of corks (I love collecting them) was full and it hit me that I could somehow place the corks in my awkward shelves and use it as pin board.

So I tried and the corks fit perfectly! However, I couldn't quite figure out exactly what to pin to my newly installed cork board, as everything was too large to make sense--that is other than calling cards...

So I now have a calling card board, am no longer bothered by my awkward shelves and can now see all the fun patterns adorned on my cork collection!

{event inspiration} summer greens

There is definitely a reason that green is one of the most popular color schemes for events--it exudes a fresh and natural vibe that so many host and hostess long for. It also happens to be my favorite color!

a new love {simple + casual kitchens}

I just got home from throwing a dinner party for 50 and was lucky enough to work in a home that had a perfect kitchen for staging. It was a very simple but incredibly functional one and it really got me thinking that sometimes the simple kitchens really are best and left me longing for anyone of these...

(via bo bedre, marie claire maison, skona hem, veranda)
Be back later tomorrow once I recoup! Hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday.

color inspiration {the rainbow}

Good morning! I have an incredibly busy work day (and night) ahead of me and definitely needed a little dose of color to get me going today.

Do you think there is such a thing as too much color?

loft living

The first time I set foot in a loft was when I was living in Chicago and working in advertising--I was stopping by a co-workers place and was both amazed and baffled by the open space. I remember not quite knowing if I loved or hated them. However, I have to say that the high ceilings and abundant natural light have definitely won me over!

What is your take on the loft?
