bubblegum?

Bubblegum was one one of my favorite indulgences as a little kid (I could eat a roll of bubble tape day!). As ones taste changes as they grow up, I now prefer bubblegum as a color in my closet or in an accessory in my home. It is surprisingly a very versatile color-- creating both the most classic and playful of looks.

(sheath dress from tory burch, red ruby rose clutch, paper-mache birds from anthropologie, pink and gold sandals from moschino cheap & chic, picture frame from kate spade, chairs from Pieces)

And much like the confection--sometimes there is such a thing as too much of this bubblegum color. So I suggest pairing it with more neutral colors and just injecting little touches here and there.

couldn't resist!

As much as I love white interiors and think they create a wonderfully soothing environment I just couldn't leave a day of posts without a little pop of color. Can you tell that this is constant struggle for me? So, I looked to my absolute favorite interior accent color to do the job!

Also, I have some exciting news (well, at least I am excited)! I just decided that I am going home at the end of April for a charity showhouse event. Which is exciting in itself but more so because one of my favorite designers, Kara Mann, is adding her touch to the showhouse (which she will be leading tours of). Oh, and the icing on the cake is that there will be a presentation from the one and only Charlotte Moss!

a bright white day...

I was planning on posting some bold colors to start of the week (was thinking teal or perhaps fuchsia) but I just kept coming across lovely white spaces in my search for color inspiration, all of which proved that white is anything but boring.

simple sunday study [peonies]

I have well documented my love of peonies in previous posts and hope you don't mind me bringing them up again. They are all that I can think of to keep from getting down from the snow that continues to fall and is not expected to let up soon! So I was overjoyed when I found these photos in the amazing portfolio of Jennifer Altman (author of nectar & light). The lighting in these photos capture so well the softness and beauty of this delicate bloom.

Now if only I could smell them right now. Hope you are all having a lovely and relaxing Sunday!

my style [tag]

When Alex from the fabulous blog, From the Right Bank to the Left Coast, tagged me to share one picture that reflects my style I thought it would be a pretty east task but I was quite wrong! My head began spinning and I came up with a list of all the elements this space would have but I couldn't find the perfect representation in a room. Yesterday morning I was perusing my daily morning reads and I came across the workspace of Milly designer, Michelle Smith, over at Kylie's truly lovely blog, Bandelle. And it was love at first sight!

I know that it is a fairly simple space but it truly has all the design elements that I long for-- traditional sensibility, modern touches, abundant light, gorgeous dark hardwood floors and splashes of vibrant color.

(images originally appeared in Traditional Home)
I would do almost anything to have that sofa--such beautiful structure and I can't help but smile when I admire the fabric. Ok, now to pass on this fun and challenging tag to five more bloggers--Christina of Down and Out Chic, Jess at The Homebound, paula of Two Ellie, Christina of You Can Call Me Chris, cmoi of Simply Seductive and anyone else that would like to join in!

Also, I have a hard time putting words to my style. Am I the only one with this problem? If not, how do you describe your style?

pastel pops [from kage handbags]

I have posted about the casually luxurious handbags from Kage before and just had to share her new spring/summer collection with you. It is full of candy color accents, subtle pleats and the her signature equestrian detailing.

They are the perfect way to add a pastel pop to your spring and summer looks. All of her handbags are lovely but I am especially crazy for these beautiful clutches:

Also, I wanted to let you all know that Carol Hannah (my new etsy crush) is very kindly offering free shipping on of her lovely pieces to delight by design readers. All you need to do is mention delight by design in the message line during checkout.

blue bird bride

Yesterday morning I saw my first bluebird of the season--it was perched on the top of sage bush peeking through the snow. The first thought that went through my mind wasn't that it was a sign of spring but what a lovely color palette that moment would create for a wedding. So, during moments of procrastination this afternoon I tried to come up with a wedding inspiration board to match my morning bluebird moment. Something about a playful garden wedding with vintage touches seemed to be appropriate:

cheap(er) chic: mixed spring greens

Well, the green of spring was starting to emerge here in Jackson but in the past 24 hours we have received almost two feet of snow! Since the green on the ground is covered I will just have to make up for it by adding some grassy greens to my closet:

Tree of life bracelet ($50), j.crew strapless dress ($69 on sale), tory burch reva flats($195), scarf belt from anthropologie ($38), antonio melani clutch ($119)

wednesday inspiration [lynsey fryers]

I don't know about you but I am definitely in the need of some mid week inspiration. And I found it ( lots of it!) in the portfolio of stylist Lynsey Fryers. Starting with one very cool idea for an inspiration board.

I just love the visual effect of posting fabric swatches and inspiring images over a pattern on the wall. Almost looks like the inspiration grew from the leaves. The colors in this photo also just inspired my next installment of cheap(er) chic! Her portfolio also contains some beautiful florals:

And lastly, it features some truly lovely color combinations (including one of my current favorites-rasberry and blue):

What do you do when you feel uninspired?

etsy crush [carol hannah]

I am on my way out the door for dinner but just couldn't wait to share my newest etsy crush with you. The dresses from new seller, Carol Hannah, definitley up to glamour and feminine factor on etsy. How could you not love dresses adorned with drapes and ruffles that are also reasonably priced?

If you like these, you will surely love her beautifully embellished custom collection that was featured during Charleston Fashion Week 2008. Do you have a current etsy crush?

Maison 1400

I just got an e-mail from Tom Sheerer's cousin (another Jackson local and author of the blog Live Well in Jackson Hole) after she saw my recent post featuring some of his work. She sent me the link to one of Tom's lesser known projects and my new dream place to rent, Maison 1400, when I visit Paris (hoping that if pretend this trip is happening that one day it will!) So, I learned that he is the designer behind a beautiful medieval townhome in the Marais neighborhood of Paris. I think these amazing pictures of the space speak for themselves:

Pretty fantastic, right? Not only it is a impeccably designed townhouse but it is located in an amazing part of Paris. The Marais District is full of incredible charm, beautiful palaces and some of the best shopping in Paris. It is truly my dream come true!

spring fling

One of my best friends in college always had a "spring fling" day when the weather started to truly feel like spring. She would skip her classes and enjoy all that spring had to offer in our very small college town and the surrounding areas. It is safe to say that frozen yogurt and a perfect spring dress were part of the mix. Although it is not quite time for a spring fling day here in Jackson--a girl has to prepare and when it comes to the perfect outfit for such a day I think Thread Social is the perfect label for the job. Some of the possible (well, in my dreams) ensemble for a day of frolicking:

And then there are their spring accessories adorned with one of my favorite symbols of spring, the tulip:

Do you have any spring rituals?

perfect sunday spots

First of all I would like to thank Tom Sheerer for designing the perfect Sunday for me in his portfolio. In an ideal world I would wake up leisurely to the light flowing in the windows of this beautiful bedroom:

And then peruse my favorite blogs while enjoying some chai tea and homemade oatmeal in this lovely mutli-use living space:

Followed by more lounging in a quite reading nook to catch up on the latest Real Simple and to decide what way to complicated meal to attempt to make for a Sunday dinner with friends.

After a long shower I would start cooking dinner and welcome some close friends for dinner through this spacious and stunning entryway (this room may have just made the entry way my favorite room in the house).

And finally have a manhattan and wonderful dinner in this elegant and rustic dining room on some drop dead gorgeous benches.

(all photos via various projects in Tom Scheerer's portfolio and have been published in various publications)
Oh, a girl can dream, right? And I am pretty sure I could find the perfect day of the week and activities for each of the rooms in his portfolio. Do you have a favorite Sunday spot? Hope you have the perfect Sunday and the perfect spots to enjoy it!
