two of my favorite things

Two of my favorite features in interior design are exposed brick walls and high ceilings. So, I was awestruck when I found them both in this grand and glamorous space from the portfolio of jo carmichael.

What are the features that are essential to creating your dream space?

love this space. For me I enjoy open space, a really nice and unique kitchen, and tall ceilings. My hubby is 6'6 so he feels cramped with anything average.

Gorgeous spaces!

For me it is all about layout. For some reasons I am drawn to homes with sprawling, one-story floorplans. A U-shaped plan is my favorite, making an outdoor courtyard in the middle of the home that you can see from all rooms. It just seems so cozy to me.

I love the exposed brick wall. I would like to have that in my dream space and some big windows with lots of light and a wall full of bookshelves with a ladder.

I totally agree! For me, lots of light is essential to my dream space too!

This place is heaven! I'm usually not too fond of brick walls, but these are beautiful. Maybe because of the white and light colors everywhere.

Love those gorgeous and sweet curtains. So refreshing and airy.

I absolutely adore exposed brick walls - they remind me of a gritty nightclub, yet are so chic at the same time.

Oof--I think my comment got deleted. Don't you HATE when that happens?

Anyhoo, I LOVE brick walls and high ceilings. Our old apartment had 13 foot ceilings and it was divine!

My requirements? LOTS of natural light and great floors (no carpet/vinyl allowed!). So basically my current apartment offends on ALL fronts :)

I love these characteristics, too. Exposed brick adds so much character to a room; high ceilings add great style. I also love a tonne of natural light: it's a must!

I am not sure if it's a requirement but I am usually drawn to bold colour accents.

Hi Blair,

Love your blog and these pictures are so inspiring.

For a few months now I was thinking about if I should keep my exposed brick wall in my bathroom but after these pictures I know for sure.

They look FAB!
